Controversy continues to rock the ongoing registration for national identity cards with the latest being a camera for National Registration Bureau (NRB) failing to capture the face of the Village Headman in Ntchisi District.

Ntchisi District Assistant Registrar Jemitter Mwale confirmed of the development in an in interview with one of the local daily papers in the country (Nation Newspaper dated June 1, 2016), saying incident happened at Mpherere Primary School Centre.

According to Mwale, the chief identified as Isaac Mndulira arrived at the venue for registration but the camera failed to capture his face after several attempts.

“I don’t know what is wrong with him but we will keep on trying,” said Mwale while adding that if it fails he will be sent to the technical team in Lilongwe.

When contacted for comment, Mndulira also expressed shock over the matter.

“I came at this centre early in the morning to register for my identity card but the cameras can’t take my pictures. I don’t know what could be the problem. Everyone is able to get his pictures taken,” Mndulira was quoted as saying.

He added: I have other identity cards with pictures but I don’t know what is happening this time around.”

Meanwhile it is not known as to whether the chief has registered or not.
