Former opposition People’s Party (PP) spokesperson Hophmally Makande has joined the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) barely two years after dumping frontline politics.
Makande was fired from PP for deciding to contest for a parliamentary seat as an independent in Mangochi-MonkeBay constituency after losing to primary elections to Ralph Jooma.
The politician was welcomed in the DPP during at Masasa in Monkeybay by the party’s Vice President for the Eastern Region, Bright Msaka.
In his speech Makande said has joined the governing DPP after some serious soul searching.
Makande served the opposition United Democratic Front (UDF), then he joined PP and he is in DPP.
