Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have killed a 10-year-old boy after they stripped him with a bomb belt and injured his 8-year-old brother.

It has been reported that the two brothers bumped into the Boko Haram insurgents while they were grazing cattle on Saturday.

They have been identified as Gambo Bukar and Umar Bukar.

The Boko Haram insurgents forcefully strapped a suicide bomb belt on the elderly kid warning him that it must not be removed until they got back home, according to Nigeria`s Borno state police spokesperson.

“The incident happened on 15/07/2017. At about 1000hrs when two boys, Gambo Bukar and Umar Bukar, aged 10 and 8 years respectively went out for grazing their animals.

“They came in contact with Boko Haram terrorists and Gambo was strapped with a suicide bomb belt and was told to move.

“At around 1600hrs, they had returned home and failed to disclose their encounter with the terrorists. In the process of unstrapping the vest, the bomb belt exploded and killed Gambo Bukar alone, while his brother sustained injuries and was hospitalized, said the police spokesperson.

He further added that later police visited the scene and peace has been restored.

Boko Haram has been conscripting teenagers in Nigeria, mostly females to carry out attacks around other cities in the country.

About 76 suicide attacks were carried out between March and July this year alone.
