Youth Cadets for the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) on Thursday harassed reporters from private media houses in the country at Blantyre Magistrate Court during the bail hear of former Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development Dr. George Chaponda.
The cadets stopped journalists from taking video footage of Chaponda while entering and leaving the Blantyre Magistrate Court.
The cadets went further by insulting some reporters and others were blocked from entering the court.
When asked for comment on the conduct of the DPP cadets, DPP spokesperson Francis Kasaila said he was not aware of the development.
Kasaila also disowned the youth cadets, saying they are not true DPP supporters.
DPP youth cadets are known for attacking critics with the recent incident being the attack of Dedza Member of Parliament who is also member of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Juliana Lunguzi.
The incident happened in full view of the police.
